Chesapeake Chapter of the U.S. Lighthouse Society
The Chesapeake Chapter focuses on implementing the U.S. Lighthouse Society’s goals in the Chesapeake Bay area, particularly with regard to the lighthouses and lightships of Virginia and Maryland. The Chapter tries to keep abreast of all light activities in Virginia and Maryland to serve as an information source and contact point for local authorities, other organizations, and the general public.

Long Island Chapter of the U.S. Lighthouse Society
The Long Island Chapter of the United States Lighthouse Society was established to assist in the restoration and preservation of the lighthouses of the Long Island, New York area and make Long Island's lighthouse heritage known to the public. The Chapter is currently involved in many projects and is working to educate, inform and entertain those who are interested in Long Island's lighthouses, past and present.
National Lighthouse Museum
The National Lighthouse Museum is located on the site of the US Light House Service General Depot, which operated on Staten Island from 1864 to 1939. They work to promote and support historical, educational, cultural, recreational, and other related activities at the site, while maintaining the navigational significance and maritime heritage of lighthouses throughout the world.
U.S. Life-Saving Service Heritage Association
Founded at the Cape Cod National Seashore in 1995 by maritime historians, authors, museum directors, National Park Service professionals and caring people. Its goal is to preserve the stations, history, boats, and equipment of the US Life-Saving Service and US Coast Guard.

The mission of the Alabama Lighthouse Association is the historic preservation of lighthouses.
The Florida Lighthouse Association
The Florida Lighthouse Association, Inc., is a not-for-profit organization chartered by the State of Florida for the preservation of Florida's lighthouses and maritime heritage.
Michigan Lighthouse Alliance
The Michigan Lighthouse Alliance was founded in 2003, and is comprised of over 50 nonprofit organizations of lighthouse preservation groups and lighthouse stakeholders from around the state of Michigan.
Michigan Lighthouse Conservancy
The Michigan Lighthouse Conservancy is an IRS registered 501(c)3 non profit corporation in the State of Michigan. Their mission statement is as follows: to promote the preservation of Michigan’s lighthouses and life saving station structures along with the artifacts associated with them. This is accomplished through education, interpretive displays and artifact preservation.

Trinity House
Trinity Houses connection with seamarks dates to the Seamarks Act of 1566 which gave them the powers to set up "So many beacons, marks and signs for the sea…whereby the dangers may be avoided and escaped and ships the better come into their ports without peril.". The first lighthouse built by Trinity House was at Lowestoft in 1609, which was part of a series of lights to help guide vessels through a maze of sandbanks between Happisburgh and Lowestoft. The next two hundred years saw a proliferation of lighthouses and in 1836 legislation was passed for all private lights in England, Wales and the Channel Islands to be compulsory purchased and placed under the management of Trinity House.
